On the last evening of the Autumn Term the whole of Baird House, plus invited guests, enjoyed the traditional ‘Last Night Supper'. This evening is, as far as we know, a unique Abbot's Hill event and one which is largely organised and co-ordinated by the team of year 11 prefects with support from the rest of their year group.

The girls in Year 11 were, as always, beautifully gowned and the evening began with formal individual photographs of each of the senior girls in front of the fireplace in the Drawing Room. As is tradition, they then escorted their chosen member of staff off to supper through a ‘guard of honour' of whooping and squealing girls from the rest of Baird House – a high energy experience for all concerned!
The theme for the event was “Starry Night”. Supper was served in the Sports Hall which looked magical with soft lighting, glittering trees and tables, all co-ordinated and decorated by the Year 11 pupils. The catering department, under the guidance of Mrs Rance, did a wonderful job of serving over 300 people with a delicious Christmas dinner, followed by Chocolate Fudge Cake (chosen by Year 11)!
After thanking all those who helped make the evening happen and a quick game of Heads and Tails, everyone moved into the theatre for the traditional ‘Year 9 Entertainment'. This year's theme was the Olympics, with a series of sketches and some familiar faces amongst staff and girls being characterised with great comic timing by the talented girls in Year 9. The formal part of the evening ended with a song dedicated to Year 11 sung by the entertainers whilst photographs of the senior girls were projected for everyone to reminisce and admire.
The evening ended with Year 11 departing for their ‘After Party'. This year the girls chose to leave on a vintage double decker bus which they felt was very fitting as we enter our centenary year.
