Year 6 girls spent a very exciting day at RAF Hendon. They have been studying World War II and this trip was an opportunity to experience life in the 1940s.

They met an ARP warden and made gas mask boxes, all in 1940s surroundings. An impromptu Air Raid warning saw them running for the shelter and experiencing the fears and strains of a night in the dark! They were fascinated to see old war planes and were amazed at their immense size. Dressing up in old RAF uniforms to take the salute was a proud moment! |
An enjoyable trip made all the more poignant as it was just two days before Remembrance Day. The girls will now wear their poppies with pride!
