The Extended Day - St Nicholas House

At St Nicholas House we recognise that many of our parents work and that their day extends beyond the hours that children usually spend in the classroom. The extended day caters for the longer hours of care which our school community needs.

The Pump House provides the ideal surroundings for our children at the beginning and end of the day. It is a dedicated space for them as they play and relax without the formality of the classroom. There is the opportunity to be outside with a self contained outdoor space, equipped and designed with young people in mind.

There is a Breakfast club for EYFS and Infants from 8am in the Pump House, a space used entirely to provide care outwith the working day. For Juniors breakfast is available in the main school dining room from 7.40am and the playground is supervised from 8am.

At the end of the working day they are accompanied back to the Pump House where a team of staff are on hand to cater for their needs. As well as the chance to enjoy a snack, play or read with their friends, children are able to participate in craft activities led by the staff on duty.

There are often girls from Baird House who volunteer their time as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and provide different activities for the children to enjoy as well as strengthening the links between the different parts of our school community.

After School Care aims to be as flexible as possible; children can attend for any length of time regularly or occasionally.
